JAMMU, INDIA, April 18, 2005: In order to discuss the present position of religious places of Hindus in the Kashmir Valley, Soan Kashmir Front held a meeting under the leadership of S.L. Pandita, its president. Members said that most of the religious places of Hindus were in deplorable condition in the Valley. They said that property of most of the religious places either had been encroached upon, illegally occupied or damaged. They further alleged that in some instances, the revenue records were infringed. The meeting demanded that the state and Central governments should come forward and prepare a computerized detail of such religious places and their properties, as they were before the migration. Members during the meeting flayed the state government for failing to protect the properties of religious places in the Valley. They said that it was the duty of the state government to protect places of worship and property of migrants. They also demanded a probe into the income of some of the prominent religious places like Hari Parbat, Jawala Ji (Khrew), Durga Nag, Shanker Acharya and donations pouring from devotees.
