LONDON, ENGLAND, September 5, 2005: Anil Bhanot, General Secretary of the Hindu Council UK, sends the following note: “A new document on forced marriages is available at ‘source.’ I would like to draw your attention to the case studies illustrated and, although I have not heard of such cases among Hindus, I thought it best to circulate the consultation document widely as someone embroiled in such an unfortunate circumstance may find it easier to report the incident directly to the Government at the contact address given in the document. Of course you as an individual or as an organization may respond to the questions, especially if you have come across a forced marriage in the Hindu circle, either to us at HCUK (phone: 020 8566 5656) or again, if you wish, directly to the Government contact given in the document.”
