WASHINGTON, D.C., November 25, 2005; The Hindu American Foundation (HAF), a non-profit organization based in America, is looking to hire a full-time Executive Director who can work out of HAF’s office in Washington, D.C. The Executive Director will work closely with members of HAF’s Board of Directors and Executive Council to advance the goals of HAF by representing HAF in conferences & in interactions with various institutions, developing policy & projects, nurturing important relationships, & raising money.
The details are as follows: location: Washington, D.C.; salary: $40,000 – $60,000 plus benefits, negotiable based on qualifications. Required experience and skills: bachelors degree or above; prior experience in business administration or management is preferred; knowledge of Hinduism and current Hindu issues; excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; superior English writing and speaking skills; must have demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals at various levels; Must be Internet savvy and proficient in MS Office, particularly in creating PowerPoint presentations; must be flexible with scheduling and willing to travel.
The duties and expectations are: responsible for daily operations, programs, and administration; work closely with the board of directors and executive council to develop a range of strategic relationships; foster communication and links with the media, academia, NGOs, and within offices and agencies of the federal and state government; fundraise from multiple sources including membership, large donors, corporate sponsors, government grants, and private foundations; Initiate contact with potential donors as well as maintain relationships with current donors; create press releases; attend various conferences as HAF representative and spokesperson.
