MAURITIUS, January 31, 2006: HPI has received this report that the venerable founder of the Human Service Trust in Mauritius died in December. The report reads, “Bhai Dhundevji had breathed his last at Bombay Hospital in early morning on Monday 19 December 2005…. With his voluntary works and service to the community at large, in very little time Bhai Dundhev Bahadur became the torch bearer of the Hindu community. As founder of the Human Service Trust, perhaps nobody can do what he had done for service of man. He was always guided by the motto of Mahatma Gandhi, ‘service to man is service to God.’ There was no difference between his sayings and duties, as the Hindi diction goes, “Kathni aur karni mein antar na ho”… The taking up of the orphanage at Callebasses from ‘Les Filles de Congregation de Marie’ in 1983, and transforming it into a very beautiful, calm and lovely ashram; providing facilities to not only inmates but to all Mauritians, by setting a free Ayurvedic Centre is in itself are all laudable tasks done by him.”
