TIRUMALA, INDIA, April 28, 2008: The governing board of the famed Tirupati temple has sanctioned over US$78 million for the construction of guest houses and massive pilgrim amenities complexes atop the temple town. Briefing the media persons, board chairman B. Karunakar Reddy said that the board which met on Sunday has decided to take up the construction immediately following the ever increasing pilgrim flow to the temple. Once completed, the would be able to provide accommodation for over 12,000 devotees additionally.

Another major decision taken at the meeting is to construct a massive Nitya Annadanam complex with sophisticated kitchen equipments so as to enable the management feed over 10,000 devotees in a single sitting. Even though the temple management is able to cater over 25,000 devotees everyday at its existing complex the devotees are forced to wait for several long hours before they have their meal.
