FIJI, September 13, 2007: Brahman Shiromani Pundit Anant Anand Sharma was re-elected to the post of national president of the Shree Sanatan Dharm Brahman Purohit Sabha of Fiji for a sixteenth consecutive year. The Brahman Sabha is the religious arm of all Sanatan followers in Fiji and consists of Hindu priests. Pundit Sharma who has been preaching since the yearly age of fifteen, is the son of Late Pundit Parshu Ram Sharma, a well-known priest of Sigatoka. Together with Pundit Sharma, the position of secretary and treasurer also remained unopposed and Pundit Umeshwar Sharma and Pundit Suman Sharma have retained their top posts respectively.

The re-elected national president was actually contemplating giving the top job to a younger priest due to age and health reasons but the Hindu priests of Fiji collectively requested Pundit Sharma to continue as their leader during their annual general meeting which was held at Olosara in Sigatoka on the 13th of September. “I am very overwhelmed with the support of my member priests and pray to the Lord for their good health and continued role in promoting our Sanatan Dharm,” Pundit Sharma said.
