WASHINGTON, DC, USA, September 26, 2008: bout 100 people, holding signs protesting Hindu violence in the Indian state of Orissa, demonstrated in front of the White House on Thursday to get the attention of visiting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Although there was no sign that anyone in Mr. Singh’s motorcade even saw the drenched crowd of Indians and Americans clustered under a forest of umbrellas, several of those standing in Lafayette Park waved signs.
The violence began Aug. 23, when Swami Laxmananda Saraswati, a member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, was killed along with four disciples.
