UK, September 30, 2008: Fashion expert Prof. Simon Lewis, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Nottingham Trent University of Britain and the head of its College of Art and Design, said there is a huge market for Indian fashion designers and their products in western countries. India is perceived as the land of cultural pluralism, with a rich civilizational history–rich, exotic, mysterious, colourful and historic.

Lewis, in Delhi to attend the convocation ceremony of the Pearl Academy of Fashion, said the world fashion market is facing a dearth of talent, but Indian fashion students are very talented and have an excellent opportunity to get good jobs abroad. He advised fashion students to focus on technique and design skills.

Noting that fashion is all about creating brands, Lewis said Indian fashion sector has the potential to become a brand in itself. He compared it to Indian cuisine, which has become a coveted brand worldwide.
