INDIA, December 7, 2008: An exhibition entitled “Reflections of Indian Consciousness,” organized by the Archaeological Survey of India and Union Ministry of Culture, opened December 8 at the National Museum. It investigates Hindu concepts in art and culture through the ages.

Curators say that the age-old value system of Indian consciousness revolves around two primary concepts: 1) vasudhaiva kutumbakam (this world is one family) and 2) ekama sat viprah bahudha vadanti (the universal reality is the same, but different people interpret it by different names). The archeological artifacts in the exhibit were chosen to display these concepts and of Hinduism’s values of selfless service, meditation and tolerance.
