PASADENA, CALIFORNIA, USA, December 16, 2008: [Press Release] The Pacific Asia Museum’s announces its upcoming exhibition, Discovering Ganesh: Remover of Obstacles. This exhibition invites the community into the museum to experience the art and culture of South Asian Ganesh festivals through contemporary photographs, installations and multimedia components.
Through the work of photographer Shana Dressler and the 11th – 19th century artists who painted and carved the ancient statues of Ganesh in our collection, Discovering Ganesh will examine the diverse South Asian religious world, but particularly as it is reflected in the worship of Lord Ganesh, the elephant-headed God revered for removing obstacles and bringing prosperity.
The exhibition will be on view from March 18 to September 20, 2009.
