CHANDIGARH, INDIA, May 13, 2009: In a legal battle over the 500-year-old Shiva Temple at Saketri in Panchkula, justice Surya Kant of Punjab and Haryana High Court has restrained the state of Haryana from taking over temple management from the Shiv Mandir Nav Durga Charitable Trust.
The trust’s counsel emphasized the temple was initially developed by a society and later on by a trust, and till now, there had never been any allegation of mismanagement. The counsel also stated that the land under the temple does not even lie within the jurisdiction of the State of Haryana.
