NEW YORK, USA, May 14, 2009: At last, some yoga classes are being tailored to the needs of large-bodied people. There are now several such classes, including Buddha Body Yoga and MegaYoga in Manhattan, HeavyWeight Yoga in Austin, Texas, and Yoga for Round Bodies in Seattle.

Kelly McGonigal, editor in chief of the International Journal of Yoga Therapy, understands the appeal of these classes, but says, “îhere’≥ something wrong that we’≤e doing as a community if people have to be shunted off to these classes designed for their size.”br /br /Michael Hayes of Buddha Body Yoga and Megan Garcia of MegaYoga say their goal is for students to feel comfortable and knowledgeable enough to take any yoga class, anywhere. “çy dream is to have my students go into a regular class and just blow people away,”†Mr. Hayes said./phr /
