HOUNSLOW, UK, August 18, 2009: As the world gears up for the celebrations of the Ganesha Chaturthi festival tomorrow, the Hounslow temple near London is an example of how international worship of the elephant Deity has become.
One thousand worshippers are expected to flock to the temple in Hounslow this weekend for a major festival. The two-day Ganesha festival begins on Sunday (August 23). Anyone is welcome to attend prayer sessions for this joyous and many-armed God, the Remover of Obstacles, during the two days. The celebrations will culminate with the murti being immersed in the Thames at the end of River Lane, Petersham, on Monday night.
