TAMIL NADU, INDIA, October 26, 2009: A special wing of Tamil Nadu police has recovered a stolen emerald murti of Lord Shiva worth over US$10 million.

“This emerald Deity is very precious one which could be valued around 500 million rupees in the market was stolen from Tiruturaipundi temple and yesterday a special team has arrested the main accused persons A. Ramesh and P. Senthil,” said Additional Director General of police (Economic Offences Wing), G. Thialakavathi.

Stolen from Marundeeswarar Temple in Thiruthuraipoondi town in February this year, the murti dates back to the 12th century, officials said.
