TRINIDAD/TOBAGO, December 24, 2009: The Tobago House of Assembly’s executive council gave the final approval to hand over a parcel of land for the construction of a Hindu Temple on the sister island. This announcement was made by Orville London, the Chief Secretary, when he opened classes in drumming, Indian dance and vocals on Friday.

London said the House of Assembly was pleased to be part of the multi-cultural synergies on the island.

Rayan Ramoutar, the president of the Tobago Hindu Society, said the organization was elated. Ramoutar said once a temple was constructed the facility would be used not only for religious pursuits but for educational endeavors.
