{"id":10622,"date":"2011-11-08T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-08T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hinduismtoday.com\/hpi\/2011\/11\/08\/vietnam-seeks-asi-help-in-restoring-ancient-temples\/"},"modified":"2011-11-08T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-11-08T12:00:00","slug":"vietnam-seeks-asi-help-in-restoring-ancient-temples","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hinduismtoday.com\/hpi\/2011\/11\/08\/vietnam-seeks-asi-help-in-restoring-ancient-temples\/","title":{"rendered":"Vietnam Seeks ASI Help In Restoring Ancient Temples"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.in.msn.com\/national\/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5570373\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n<p>NEW DELHI, INDIA, November 6, 2011: The Vietnam government has sought assistance from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to restore a portion of My Son Sanctuary, a world heritage site that has one of the largest collection of Hindu temples and monuments in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes, we have been approached by the Vietnamese government to undertake restoration works at the sanctuary which houses centuries-old temples, some dating as far back as the 4th century AD,&#8221; ASI Director General Gautum Sengupta said.<\/p>\n<p>Set in a valley surrounded by high mountains, the 70-odd monuments in My Son Sanctuary&#8217;s precincts were badly damaged by the U.S. during the Vietnam war in 1969.
