Jayalalithaa today approved an allocation of US$224,200 towards subsidizing the travel of Hindu pilgrims to the holy sites of Mansarovar and Muktinath, both in foreign countries.<\/p>\n<p>The State Government will bear US$717 of the US$1800 estimated per individual for air travel to Mansarovar in China and US$179 towards those visiting Muktinath, one of the 108 Vaishnavite shrines which is located in Nepal. <\/p>\n<p>A total of 500 beneficiaries, 250 each for either destination, would be covered under the scheme. Selection of pilgrims will be done by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&#038;CE) Department from October 15 by issuing print advertisements.
