The foundation stone for the renovation was laid in June 2005 by Bhartiya Janata Party leader Lal Krishna Advani during his Pakistan visit.<\/p>\n<p>The conservation and restoration of the Siva Temple where a Siva Linga is installed is nearing completion in the first three-year phase of renovation of the entire complex that has cost US$1 million, a three-member Pakistani delegation told Advani on Wednesday while calling on him before winding up the 10-day trip that took it to temples of Varanasi, Pushkar and Ajanta Alora to study the Hindu temple architecture and customs. The delegation, led by Punjab province Archeology Director General Orya Maqbool Jan Abbasi, made a quick trip to the new Akshardham temple commissioned in Delhi last year before catching flight back home.
