According to reports, Deshmukh delivered a public speech on April 23 at Umari on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and allegedly made remarks against the Hindu Gods. Deshmukh was arrested after a complaint was lodged by an Umari resident, Sanjay Kulkarni.
