The rituals for the festival began on April 9th and the Karaga Shaktyotsave (main event) was held after midnight on Saturday. The festival is celebrated each year to mark the return of Draupadi in the form of Adishakti, an avatar of Goddess Durga. One of the traditions entails a visit to the tomb of an 18th-century Muslim saint.
