In fact, according to this article, research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 1999 found that, &#8220;Folks who eat fish but no other animal flesh and those who eat eggs and diary products but no meat or fish had a 34% lower risk of heart disease.&#8221; Eva Obarzanek, research nutritionist at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute says, &#8220;We&#8217;ve known for a long time that people who ate vegetarian diets had lower risk factors as well as a lower rate of heart disease.
