The mission of the foundation is to give grassroot inventors an opportunity to submit their innovations, patent their ideas, and if they are developed the inventor would receive credit and perhaps financial gain. For example, Mansukhbhai of Gujarat figured out a way to replace the back wheel on his motorcycle with a spiked cylinder so that the cycle could be used as a tractor. In Rajasthan, the article explains that Sunda Ram Verma devised a technique of keeping plants alive in the desert without watering them more than once a year. A farmer in Kerala helped his entire village when he invented a coconut de-husking machine. Dr. Anil K Gupta, NIF&#8217;s director says, &#8220;It is time the world recognizes the potential of the grassroots genuis to solve problems of society.
