The celebration is also known as Sivalaya Deepam, commemorating the appearance of Lord Siva as a pillar of light. Temple authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the festival and experts were involved in preparing and lighting the Special &#8220;deepam&#8221; near the Uchipillayar temple.
