The 60-year-old temple was built by their ancestors, who worked at the rubber estate. Temple chairman Y. Sasinaran said the estate had since been sold to a property developer and was earmarked for a tourism project. He said the estate workers had since moved out to work in nearby factories. “However, the temple still stands in its original site, with scores of devotees turning up daily to conduct pujas (prayers). It’s time the temple be relocated. Our appeals for a new site to the Johor Baru Central Municipal Council (MBJBT) have not been successful. We hope Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman will look into our plight,” he said. MBJBT secretary Sallehuddin Hassan said a meeting with the relevant authorities and the developer was scheduled for today to find a solution.

SourceJOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA, April 4, 2005: About 800 Hindu devotees have appealed to the Johor Government to relocate the Sri,…

[1

post-5172","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
