A wealth of educational material is freely available online. And while textbooks often become obsolete within a year or two&#8211;costing thousands of dollars to replace&#8211;the online information can be updated almost instantaneously.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a pronounced generation gap. Younger students, who have grown up texting their friends on their cell phones, seem to have this kind of technology built into their DNA&#8211;while many students in their late 20s and beyond, more accustomed to the printed page, are struggling to adapt.
