More than half of the youngsters who took refuge online ended up being more worried after finding the information on web pages, the poll, commissioned by Get Connected, a free confidential helpline, revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Only a fifth said they cross-checked their findings with a friend or parent, researchers found. Andrew McKnight, chairman of its board of trustees, said, &#8220;These results show that there is a need for young people to be able to verify the information that they find online.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In many cases the vast amount of information available on the internet seems to exacerbate their personal worries further.&#8221; Andrew McKnight said.
