TRIPLICANE, INDIA, May 22, 2004: The Sri Parthasarathy Perumal Temple has been receiving a good dose of tender loving care. Situated near the Bay of Bengal coast, the 2,000-year-old temple, whose presiding deity Venkatakrishan was installed by Sage Athreya, has inscriptions from the 8th century. An air conditioner has been installed near the sanctum sanctorum and pillars have been given a coat of stone varnish to prevent erosion by the sea breezes. The temple also houses several other Vaishnavite deities on its 1.5 acres. Temple devotees wanted the temple in prime condition for the Mahasamprokshanam which started on May 24th. The article says, “With the liberal donations from various devotees, the HR & CE Department has completed the renovation work at a cost of US$114,000.”
