SEVILLA, ANDALUCIA, SPAIN, September 23, 2005: Two musics, two countries. It is not fusion, it is a “dialogue between cultures” says Segundo Falcon. “Both worlds” is a spectacle of Flamenco and Hindu music presented this weekend at Los Palacios and Mairena del Aljarafe in Sevilla, Andalucia, Spain. Those who attend will enjoy the purest flamenco mixed with the rhythm of India. The members of Maharaja orchestra are often described as the Gypsies of Rajasthan. They are not, ethnically speaking, Gypsies, but the music they are playing today still represents what was played at the time of the great migration. In India, they are called Kalakar meaning “sacred servants of the art.” Maharaja is composed of leading figures of the musician castes of Rajasthan; the Langas and the Manganyar.
