NEW DELHI, INDIA, November 23, 20099: The fruits of two decades of research are being exhibited at the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts lawns until November 29. The Braj Mahotsav, which opened Saturday, brings the past into the realm of the present, as it showcases the phenomenon of Braj or modern day Vrindavan.

From unraveling the symbolism of Krishna’s Kaliadamana (dance on the head of the serpent) to Brajbhumi’s multi-cultural social fabric, the festival exhibits a slice of life, Braj style. The week-long festival showcases the symbolism and history of Braj through a series of paintings, public lectures, arts and handicrafts on display in the stalls set up in a recreated Braj.

Aditi Mehta, joint secretary, IGCNA, “The festival offers a chance for people here to get a feel of Vrindavan, as it is today and as it was in the past, without setting a foot out of Delhi.”
