NOIDA, INDIA, January 27, 2010: Can astrology help students cope with stress? Some schools in Noida think so. On Tuesday, Marigold Public School put this belief into practice by inviting astrologers to counsel students based on their horoscope.

The workshop was organized by Chennai-based Indian Council of Astrological Sciences. Principal V.K. Sharda believes there is a connection between a students’ studies and the alignment of her stars. “With the help of astrology, students can select subjects and subsequently a career they’re meant for,” said Sharda. But not everyone agrees. “Won’t it add to a child’s stress if the astrologer suggests a stream he or she doesn’t want to pursue?” says Abdul Mabood, director of NGO Snehi.
